Harry Potter’s sixth year at wizarding school Hogwarts is filled with a new set of conflicts: As his archenemy Voldemort gains strength, Harry is beset with the task of understanding Voldemort’s history as well as the keys to his invincibility. It is only then that Harry can stand a chance against his evil nemesis.
The ClearPlay Factor
The PG Potter has a small number of language issues, which ClearPlay takes care of. Also, there is a lot of teen kissing going on, although ClearPlayed, long kisses are shortened. There are two things, however, parents may want to consider before making the movie a family event: 1) Some pretty scary moments in the movie could induce nightmares, and 2) Potter fans may be traumatized by one of the plot developments. With a 2 1/2-hour running time, it’s unlikely you’ll find an opportunity to pre-screen it, so consider that a warning for sensitive viewers.
Is Half-Blood half good, or a worthy installment in the series?…
In my opinion, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the best movie of the series so far. There is a certain seriousness to getting older, and the movie captures the trials of adolescence well. And while sinister events are portrayed in a dark manner, there is also whimsy and fun in the movie’s lighter moments. Those who know the books well will find nits to pick, but overall, Half-Blood is a great, fast-moving adventure.
