Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights tells the true story of the 1988 Odessa, Texas Permian High School Panthers and their quest for a shot at the State Championship.
ClearPlay in Action!
About 80% of the movie is actually watching the Panthers play football but I would still crank your filters up mainly for language and some sexual content. The team parties a little bit and underage drinking is shown. Players sustain injuries during football games but the violence to be aware of is a father’s abusive nature towards his son. Okay for ages 13 and up.
Is Friday Night Lights championship material?...
For not being a big football fan I, ironically, really like football movies. After seeing the barren town of Odessa in the movie I can see why the town turns to football as a way of life. The kids are reared from a young age to live, breath and love football with little room for failure. I liked the movie but I prefer the really moving, feel good football movies! If you are looking for inspirational try Remember the Titans or The Blindside; FNL highlights more of the eccentric/obsessed culture that is Texas football.
