  • Tweens & Teens Movie Night Activity: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

“She thinks she's found a magical land... in the upstairs wardrobe.”

When the Pevensie children, Peter, Mary, Edmund and Lucy, try to hide in a wardrobe they stumble into a new world full of magic. They quickly learn that there is a war brewing and they will have to pick sides. Do they stay in Narnia and help fight for Aslan, the Lion, following an ancient prophesy or will they just try to find their way back home and forget it all ever happened? Gather your tweens & teens, and find out while you watch the show and enjoy these Movie Night activities.

    Wear While Watching:

*The Pevensie children are evacuated from their home and sent to live somewhere else. They wear tags with information about where they are going on them. Make tags for you and your family, but let each person choose where they want to go someday, instead of somewhere they are being sent.
*When the children wander through the wardrobe, they come to a land covered in snow. They grab big fur coats from the wardrobe to keep them warm. Grab your own coat and watch the movie with it on to match the Pevensies.

    Home Theater Décor:

*If it’s too hot to wear a coat through the whole movie, why not decorate with them instead? Make your living room look like a wardrobe by hanging up coats and jackets. Your family will feel like they are having movie night right inside the wardrobe.
*Narnia has been covered in snow for a hundred years. Make it look like your home is covered in snow by decorating with paper snowflakes and white tableware for dinner. Go the extra mile and cover the couches and chairs with white sheets, tablecloths or fabric so it looks like they’ve been covered in snow.

    Movie Munchies:

*Mr. Tumnus invited Lucy over to his house by offering her tea, toast, cakes, and sardines. Serve up the same to make your Movie Night guests feel like you had Mr. Tumnus cater the event.
*When Edmund meets The White Witch she gives him hot chocolate & Turkish Delight. For a sweet treat to munch on while you watch the movie, have hot chocolate and Turkish Delight for your family. You can buy Turkish Delight online or try your hand at making it yourself.
*For dinner, why not make one of the Beaver family’s favorite meals. They like fish & chips or ham & toast. Remember that in England, where some of the story takes place, “chips” are called “French fries” in places like the United States.

    Movie Inspired Adventures:

*When the Pevensie kids are trying to keep themselves entertained they flip through the dictionary and try to guess the meaning of the words they find. When the weather is good enough they go outside and play Cricket. Play either of these games to add more fun to your Movie Night.
*The White Witch freezes people who don’t follow her or who get in her way. Make your own ice sculptures by carving shapes or designs into blocks of ice or use cartons of ice cream. You’ll have to work fast though, before your works of art melt away!
*As Peter, Mary and Lucy are traveling through Narnia, they are surprised by a visit from Santa Claus who has gifts for them. Surprise your Movie Night guests by having some small Christmas gifts for them as well.
*This movie is based off the book series The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. To follow the further adventures of the Pevensie family or to learn more about Narnia before the children came to visit, be sure to read the books!
