Will you find yourself launched into laughter?

Tripp (Matthew McConaughey) has a good job, he’s young, attractive and has a good personality so he’s the total package right? But…he still lives at home. Tripp’s parents love him but they are ready to be empty nesters and haven’t figured out how to push their little bird out of the nest. Desperate times call for desperate measures when his parents hire Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker) an expert interventionist to give Tripp the nudge he needs.

The concept of this movie alone makes me laugh since I’m guessing a lot of parents can identify with this issue and even better the movie was filled with loads of laughs. The supporting cast though steals the show. Tripp’s two best friends played by Bradley Cooper (who is up for an Oscar for leading man this year) and Justin Bartha, contribute to the humor in the film by being pretty much just like Tripp. Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw play Tripp’s parents who obviously had fun with their roles. If I had parents that made life that comfy I may want to move back home too. Okay maybe not, but tempting! Sure, this is just another romantic comedy and there are a bazillion out there but I love it! It was funny and is a diversion from reality but surely don’t expect a life altering message. It is along the lines of How to Lose a Guy in 10 days or Hitch – which of course I love those too!

Motherly Advice: My least favorite part of romantic comedies is the emphasis on casual sex. Tripp is a ladies man and often gets out of a relationship soon after he gets what he wants, if you get my drift. Couples are seen in bed without clothes on or seen in their underwear. Tripp’s Dad is shown in the buff from the backside and unfortunately it is not filtered so there is your warning. There is a lot of casual drinking. With most filtering the language, crude humor and some sexual content are cleaned up. The subject matter may still be inappropriate for under age 16 so use your discretion.
