Juno
Juno (Ellen Page), is a high school teen who becomes pregnant. She must quickly adapt to being thrust into adulthood and make a decision about what to do with her unborn child.
ClearPlay in Action!
Juno refers to becoming pregnant as “getting herself into a pickle”; the vibe of the movie downplays the emotions and repercussions of teen pregnancy and sex. Medium filters cut a lot of language, open sex discussions and the act itself. I would be hard pressed to promote this as a great movie for kids of any age due to the subject matter; the film has a redeeming quality in that Juno, at least, takes responsibility for her choices.
Is this movie really a laughing matter?...
A pretty great cast for this little flick but ultimately it is the Ellen Page show. She is a sharp tongued, tom-boyish teen that delivers a stellar performance. The witty dialogue can be funny and is a signature for the characters, but is a bit overused. This flick runs the gamut of funny and clever to sad and awkward. It may be an acquired taste, but I go for quirky sometimes!
