Defiance
This film starring Daniel Craig and Liev Shreiber is the story based off the book which was based off the true story of the Bielski brothers who led a growing group of Jews from Nazi occupied Eastern Europe to safety among the trees of the Belarussian forest during WWII. With over 1,000 survivors to feed and lead, the four brothers meet plenty of adversity as they struggle in their defiance against annihilation.
ClearPlay in Action!
With Medium filters ClearPlay will trim a good amount of swearing out of this one, including 7 f-words. Plenty of violence is trimmed and disturbing footage of Nazi cruelty. There will still be left some violence and some disturbing footage as this period of time in our history is disturbing just to think about. Many people get shot and the Beilski brothers kill several people just for revenge. The topic of rape is discussed but not shown and you’ll see two people in bed (after pre-marital relations we assume) with bare legs and shoulders. With your filters set to at least Medium I think this one is still only suitable for teens 17 and up.
Can Daniel Craig Manage a Non-Double-O Film?...
With the help of Lieve Shreiber you bet he can! For all those audience members out there who love true stories, really like war-type movies and totally dig films about people doing extraordinary things then load this one up onto your Netflix queue! Performances from Shreiber and Craig were great and this true story will have you shaking your head in amazement at the things that brave and desperate people can accomplish.
