Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), the adopted and agile Prince of Persia, helps to capture a sacred city and its beautiful princess, Tamina, only to find himself framed for the death of his father. Wielding a magic dagger that can turn back time, he teams up with Tamina to uncover the secret of his father’s death and expose a plot that would destroy the world.

ClearPlay in Action!

Refreshingly, Prince of Persia, has little for ClearPlay to do despite its PG-13 rating. There is no sex or nudity to speak of and only one S word and a handful of other minor language incidents to edit. The bulk of ClearPlay’s work is softening a few violent incidents. Much of the bloodless violence, including fisticuffs and puncturing strikes from arrows and other weapons, is left in.

Should I Play in The Sands of Time?…

I was pleasantly surprised by Prince of Persia, the first movie based on a video game I’ve seen that was watchable and engaging. While it won’t amaze the Mensa crowd, it’s a good popcorn flick with quick action, good leads, and a solid, if predictable, story of betrayal and the bond of brothers. Prince Dastan’s video game ability to jump around like a spider monkey on 12 cups of coffee adds to the fun, and the film’s general charm helps smooth over a few missteps.
