  • The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

    Reveiwer: Danielle’ (a.k.a. Nella)
    Age: 29
    Gender: Female
Twilight Spectrum of Fan-ship Rating: Twi-Softy (Meaning, I love a good story as much as the next person-and maybe even a little bit more-but Twilight is just this for me. A good story.)

I have to concur with most critics right now, Eclipse was much, much better than Twilight and New Moon. The effects were pretty cool, the action sequences were fun, I was delighted to see Bryce Dallas Howard playing Victoria this time and Edward and Bella were slightly less annoying. Of course that could be because the other characters got a little more time in the spotlight. In fact I kind of wished director David Slade had spent even a little more time on the other characters. I thought he cut out quite a bit from everyone’s personal stories and I was disappointed by the abbreviations. Edward isn’t the only cool vampire in the world just because he’s temporarily single and has that messy spiked hair thing going on.

Now to the true entertainment during a Twilight movie…the audience. I went to a 12:39am showing hosted by our movie mom Launi and found myself looking around me at the characters sitting in front of the movie screen. There were members of every character genre covered: Pre-teen girls with barrettes in their hair that had pictures of Jacob on them, Teenage girls literally beaming with Twilight…light and a secret hope that Edward will prove to be a real person one day, Moms in need of a 2 hour escape, those Mom’s Husbands who were somehow conned into the movie theater in the wee hours of morning (ladies, please share your persuasive methods with me) and older women who have always had a soft spot for brown eyed boys of every shade and level of mortality.

I really enjoyed Eclispe and wouldn’t be opposed to David Slade redoing the other two movies while he was at it. Is that allowed? I can wish.

Danielle’ - Go Team Jacob and Team Clint (who is my own brown-eyed, mortal hero and husband)

P.S. Are the rumors that LyndiLou speaks of true? Will they really do Breaking Dawn in two movies? Is this necessary? Or just a ploy to rake in more money with an extra movie?

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.; 124 min; Directed By David Slade

    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

    Reviewer: Launi
Age: Half as old as Edward...minus 3...you do the math.
    Gender: Female
Twilight Spectrum of Fanship Rating: Severe Twi-hard who should have been imprinted or bitten while in my prime...but alas...

The seven-ish month wait for the Twilight Eclipse movie was worth every second! From the opening scenes to the final credits, it was clear that the Vampire movie making "powers that be" have got it figured out. In this, the third installment after Twilight and New Moon, we actually get to watch the relationship between Edward and Bella, Bella and Jacob, and Jacob and Edward (I know, I know) develop. There is finally enough conversation, and info/background sharing among the characters to give us a better sense of why everybody is in love with everybody else--if you follow me. Even though this was technically the "roughest" of the three movies, what with the astronomical vampire and human body count, it's also dang fun to see Bella, Edward, Jacob and Jasper sincerely smile and... dare I say... laugh in this episode--something seriously lacking in the previous two shows. It's good to have some well placed flashbacks on how Rosalie and Jasper came to be.

We positively loved Eclipse and will be seeing it again...this week.

    Peace. Love. Twilight.

Launi - who is secretly "Team Charlie" because he's the only cute guy in the Twilight series that would really appreciate my home cooking.

    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

There’s trouble brewing in the Twilight universe: Young people in the Seattle area are going missing, and the Cullen clan (that’s the vampire family if you haven’t been following the series) deduces that they are being turned into a vampire army of newbies coming to get Bella (Kristen Stewart). But Bella (and the movie) is mostly preoccupied with her two relationships, one with Dreamy Edward the Vampire (Robert Pattinson) and one with Shirtless Jacob the Werewolf (Taylor Lautner). Soulful glances ensue.

    ClearPlay In Action!

Eclipse derives its PG-13 rating mostly from fighting, violence and sultry moments of teens kissing. While ClearPlay tones down the violence by cutting bloodshed, there is still a lot of fighting. ClearPlay also cuts about nine moments of dialogue. Most of the movie deals with Bella’s burning for Edward, and while one semi-steamy scene is trimmed, her preoccupation with wanting to be changed into a vampire, and the fighting, render the ClearPlayed version less appropriate for pre-teens, and even some early teens.

Is there any bite to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse?…

For a vampire pic, Eclipse has no teeth. I know, I know, it’s aimed at tween girls… and their moms. But I spent much of the movie wondering when anything of substance was actually going to happen. So if you’re a fan, enjoy. If not, try a different rental.

    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

    Reviewer: Trisha
    Age: 31
    Gender: Female
Twilight Spectrum of Fanship Rating: Twi-Hard. Let's just say I'll plow over any teenaged crazed fan that stands in the way of me and Jacob/Taylor Lautner. Don't beleive me? Try me!

It’s true; I’m a 31 year old woman, who is obsessed with Twilight. I admit it fully and I’m not ashamed of it. My husband rolls his eyes and pretends not to know me every time a trailer comes on. What? Can I help if I gasp out loud and hold my breath?? So opening day FINALLY came and folks, Eclipse was AWWESOOOOME!!!

I fell in love with the whole Twilight series when I read them from cover to cover, skipping meals, losing sleep, and literally checking out of reality until I had finished the last of the saga, Breaking Dawn. And now it’s so fun seeing the whole story play out on the big screen! Am I preaching to the choir here or what. I loved the first two movies, Twilight and New Moon but so far, Eclipse is by far my favorite! In Eclipse the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob heightens to a whole new level. We finally get to see Bella admit her true feelings towards Jacob, which only intensifies the tension between the three. And speaking of Jacob, you’ll notice that the werewolves look eerily real, more so than in New Moon, especially when Bella leans against Jacob during the 'How to Fight New Born Vampires' scene. I also really enjoyed getting to know some of the other members of the Cullin family. We get a chance to peek into the stories behind Rosalie and Jasper’s “turning” in to vampires. As far as my cinematic experience, Twi-Hard fans were at their best! And will you think less of me if I too was oohing and awwwing and clapping during the film? If so I apologize but in my defense, Eclipse was filled with so much action, drama, and suspense that I just could not contain myself.

Hi, my name is Trisha and I’m a Twi-Hard Fan.
