Shakespeare in Love
Shakespeare in Love is about a young William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) as an actor and playwright. Struggling to come up with inspiration for his next masterpiece he finds it when he becomes captivated by a young lady named Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow). A forbidden love can unleash all kinds of emotion and leads to the revelation of the timeless story of Romeo and Juliet and the lesser known Twelfth Night.
ClearPlay In Action!
A lust filled romance between Will and Viola plays out on center stage. ClearPlay cuts out multiple sexual scenes and nudity but lots of kissing and men and women seen in bed with clear intentions of intimacy are laced throughout the movie (some of the women are prostitutes). There is some drinking and a couple of fights that break out between the men. Although the dresses the women wear are beautiful they show a lot of cleavage. A few obscenities are cut with the filters including the f word.
To watch or not to watch, that is the question?...
By all means watch this movie but I have to say I am a bit surprised it was a Best Picture Oscar winner. It was good but I failed to see the Oscar worthiness. This twisted love story is witty and well written, and most importantly, superbly casted. For the Shakespeare purists (which I’m not) this is a fictional take on the young writer’s escapades. If you are familiar with his other work you will catch the many crafty references made throughout this homage to Romeo and Juliet. I would highly recommend watching with filters set to most and I would keep this for adults only due to the sexual overtones.
