A Beautiful Mind
This beautiful film is (loosely) based on the biography of mathematical genius John Nash and his struggles with paranoid schizophrenia and the effects it had on his career, marriage and family life.

Medium filters will snip out about two handfuls of expletives and three instances of Nash saying some crude and direct things to women. What’s left over is a pretty minor car chase scene with some gun shots fired and the “bad guys” driving off a bridge into the water. Thematic issues about schizophrenia and paranoia may upset younger audiences but I think younger audiences will be bored long before they have time to be disturbed by it. With your language filters set to Medium this one is appropriate for teens 13 and up.
Will You Mind This Rental?...
Russel Crowe delivers what I think is his very finest film performance in A Beautiful Mind. Gladiator fans don’t get me wrong, Gladiator is great and wonderful and all that jazz but Crowe is able to truly shine as a plain ‘ol actor in this one. You’ll find yourself feeling all that he feels and more because all of the sudden you’re rooting for this strange and rude genius. Then add performances by Paul Bettany (a personal favorite) Ed Harris, and Jennifer Connelly and you’ve got icing on that filmatic cake of yours!
