Parental Guidance
Grandpa Artie and Grandma Diane get the opportunity to babysit their three grandchildren while their somewhat estranged daughter and her husband leave town on a getaway. Artie and Diane’s freewheeling approach to parenting throws the family into chaos, putting their hypersensitive daughter and her coddled kids into a tizzy. In the end, both sets of parents need a little guidance.
ClearPlay In Action!
Parental Guidance is rated PG. ClearPlay cleans up some minor language issues, crude references, and crude gags, including a couple of scenes centered around a boy’s bodily functions. Also trimmed is a section where there is a pole dancing exercise class being held in a home, though no sex or nudity is referenced (though I was put out that this pointless thirty second gag was included at all). With filters, Parental Guidance is appropriate for the whole family.
What’s Your Guidance on Parental Guidance?...
While fairly cheesy in spots, the affable Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as the grandparents go a long way toward making Parental Guidance watchable if not enjoyable. There’s a good message about parenting and families if you pay close attention. While perhaps not funny or emotional enough to grab everybody, those who appreciate Billy Crystal’s sharp wit will appreciate Parental Guidance.
