  • Killing Them Softly

When a couple of low–lifes rob a mob protected card game, the mob hires an assassin, Jackie, to clean up the mess. His job is to find and kill the thieves as a warning to others and to help the card players have confidence that their money is protected.

    ClearPlay In Action!

ClearPlay does an admirable job cleaning up this movie, muting around 170 F words and a some other swearing. A couple of scenes involving sexual talk and situations are removed, but you won’t miss them. Since this movie is about assassins, there is some violence that is trimmed, though it is obvious who is killed. This is not a family movie.

    Will I Be Killed Softly?…

You may enjoy this film if you come into it knowing what it is. It is not an action thriller about assassins. It takes an art film approach and is trying to make a social and cultural point. The film is set during the American financial crisis and bailouts, and we hear quotes from government leaders throughout the movie while we watch the mob protect its business. The point of the film seems to be that the greedy individualism of criminals is the same as the greedy individualism of everyone else. They’re just more honest about it. So, if you want to watch that kind of assassin movie, give Killing Them Softly a spin.
