Once Upon A TimeStorybrooke appears to be a quiet little town full of good people, doing good things but there is a lot that they don’t know…or remember. You see, the people of Storybrooke each have a story of their very own with a villain who lives right under their very noses and is the one who cursed them all into living here in the real world. There is only one person who can save them, but she doesn’t know who she is either. ClearPlay In Action!Filters mainly nip out some minor sword fighting violence involving a little blood and a couple minor swear words. The tricky part with this series is the cleavage and topics of adoption (where a ten year old strikes out on his own to find his birth mother without his adoptive mother’s permission). ClearPlay can’t filter every scene involving the cleavage since every time the wicked witch is shown (pre-curse) she’s wearing some crazy evil-lady outfit that is skin tight and highlights the majority of her chest. This alone sends my age appropriate stamp up to 15 or older. Later in the series you’ll deal with topics of infidelity in a non-sexual (kissing only) way that gets a little complicated since the couple is married in the previous world but not married in the real world…like I said, it’s complicated. Will This Be Your Bedtime Story of Choice?...If you like fantasy and fairy tales then this pilot will hook you for sure! There are enough familiar characters to make you feel at home in the premise but a lot more unknown storyline to encourage a late night hunker-down session with your popcorn and chocolate for a few episodes. This is a great start to a great season and if you can politely ignore some of the cheap effects and cheesy moments then you’re in for a real story book treat with Once Upon a Time.
