Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Since a childhood experience with a witch (you can probably guess which one), Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have dedicated their lives and numerous weapons to the killing of witches, usually in the most violent way possible. They investigate a town’s tragedy, learn secrets, and fight evil.
ClearPlay In Action!
This Hansel & Gretel are certainly not for kids. ClearPlay edits several scenes of gross–out violence, including those involving gore, blood, vomit, maggots, burning alive, and squishing. Also cut is a scene of skinny–dipping where intercourse is implied, and about 30 instances of profanity, including a handful of F–words. Even ClearPlayed, it’s still a violent tale, with little redeeming value.
Should I sit a ‘spell’ and watch Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters?…
Depending on your tolerance for inanity, you may want to ward off these Witch Hunters. The movie knows it’s being silly, but it’s not quite silly enough to be parody, yet too silly to be taken seriously. Originally presented in 3D, Hansel & Gretel is aimed at teenagers looking for cheap R–rated thrills. The thrills in this case come from trying to figure out why Jeremy Renner signed up for this movie.
