The Host
The earth is lost. A race of incorporeal beings has invaded, taking over the bodies of almost the entire human race. Melanie Stryder and her brother escaped, running and hiding to survive. But when Melanie is captured and her body taken over, her strong will allows her to fight back against the alien soul placed within her. She and the alien struggle for mastery of one body while two hot guys fight over them: one for Melanie and one for the alien.
ClearPlay In Action!
There are only about twelve instances of language for ClearPlay to mute, mainly religious exclamations and mild swearing. There is some violence that is skipped which may leave a question or two about what happened, in particular relating to alien implantation. An implied sex scene and some immodest shots are also trimmed but not missed. Filtered, The Host would be appropriate for younger teens, though it is aimed at teenage girls in particular.
Should My ClearPlay Player Host The Host?…
In case you’re wondering, The Host is based on a book by Stephanie Meyer of Twilight fame / infamy. The film has been described as a sci–fi chick flick, which is an apt description. While conceptually interesting, there isn’t enough sci–fi here to keep sci–fi fans interested. On the romance side, if all you need is a young woman being mooned over by two good looking slabs of meat with no personality whatsoever (sound familiar?), then The Host will give you what you are looking for. The book is probably better.
