Undefeated

Money, O.C., Chavis, and others play for the Manassas High School Tigers, an inner–city football team that has trouble winning a single football game. Plagued by drugs, low test scores, and other low–income travails, the players struggle with self worth as they become the punching bag for the league, a trend their coach, Bill Courtney, wants to reverse. He’s been with Manassas for six years and has seen how a team can spiral down with a single opponent’s score or win. Now, espousing mantras like, “Football doesn’t create character; it reveals it,” Coach Courtney will try to turn Manassas into a winner. Sound like another Hollywood fairy tale? Sure. Except it’s a true story, and Undefeated is a documentary.

ClearPlay In Action!

As might be expected, there is some swearing in this high school football movie, that ClearPlay readily handles. ClearPlay cuts about 40 instances of profanity, including 2 F–words during an argument, and other exclamations from players and the coach. Undefeated may not explain how a team can go from winning to losing, but it’s an inspirational view of the power of self–image and the rewards of sticking to an impossible goal. ClearPlayed, it’s appropriate for all members of the family.

Is Undefeated a winner?…

Undefeated won the Oscar for Best Documentary, and like all great documentaries, it gets you to care about the characters. It scores a touchdown in most categories, and should be seen, whether you're a sports fan or not.
