  • Olympus Has Fallen

The movie Die Hard with Bruce Willis was so successful it became a shorthand for any action–thriller featuring terrorists in self–contained places. Under Siege became Die Hard on a Battleship. Speed 2 became Die Hard on a Cruise Liner. Now, we have Olympus Has Fallen, which is Die Hard in the White House. This time, a large number of angry North Koreans invade the President’s home, taking him hostage. It’s up to one disgraced security operative (Gerard Butler) to “Willis” every one of them and save the free world.

    ClearPlay In Action!

Bullets and swear words fly in Olympus, and Agent ClearPlay flies to the rescue. ClearPlay cuts about 90 profanities, nearly 40 of them F–words. Almost every act of violence is accompanied by sprays, spatters, or streams of blood, which ClearPlay trims. The movie is still based on violent acts, and images of our capital under attack may be too disturbing for young viewers.

Is Olympus nectar from the gods?…

Olympus Has Fallen is a weird combination of brutality and over–the–top action scenes that stretch the limits of credibility. It’s hard to take it seriously, and yet impossible to take your eyes off of it.

Marty Nabhan — ClearPlay West Winger

Rated R for strong violence and language throughout; 120 min; Directed by Antoine Fuqua
