World War Z
Zombies! Human beings are turning into mindless, vicious animals, hunting down and infecting everyone in their path. Gerry Lane, former U.N. Investigator, manages to get his family out of harm’s way with help from the military, but it comes with a price: he must help investigate the zombie outbreak. Gerry hops from continent to continent and danger to danger as the world falls into chaos.
ClearPlay In Action!
As you would expect, the PG-13 rating here is for violence and about twenty instances of language. There is plenty that is disturbing and scary, including graphic wounds, shooting, and zombie scares. If your violence and disturbing filters are on full, expect a few skips and jumps. Even with filters, the stuff that isn’t skipped would be too intense for younger viewers.
Should I Enlist for World War Z?
If you are a fan of the book the movie is based on, be aware that the only things the movie and book share are zombies and the title. World War Z is an entertaining ride for the zombie-loving crowd, though it plays more like a disaster movie than the standard chainsaw, axe, and brains zombie-flick. Like I Am Legend, it’s a tamer zombie experience in terms of gore while still retaining some scares. My only criticism of the film is its up and down rhythm: Calm. Zombies! Calm. Zombies! Calm. Zombies! Still, it was a fun watch and I would recommend it to the action horror crowd.
