The Heat

By-the-book know-it-all FBI Special Agent Ashburn (Sandra Bullock), up for a big promotion, goes into the field to take down a big-time drug lord. Once there, she crosses a crass local detective (Melissa McCarthy) who’s reluctant to allow anyone in her jurisdiction. The two soon find that the best way to catch the drug lord is to work together and use each other’s respective skills.

ClearPlay In Action!

There are some racy outfits, violent images, and an extended drunk scene in The Heat, but the real work ClearPlay gets is cutting 50-percent of everything that comes out of Melissa McCarthy’s mouth. ClearPlay removes about 300 profanities, half of them the F-word. The rest of the content is of the usual crime movie variety – seedy locales, evil characters, rough behavior – so you can decide who’s mature enough in your family to watch it.

In typical buddy-film fashion, Bullock and McCarthy make a hilarious pairing as two law-people with opposite ways of getting things done. The dialogue is funny when it’s not crude, and the action has a way of being surprising, even in stock situations. Good, if not clean, fun.
