Instructions Not Included
Playboy Valentin (Eugenio Derbez) receives a surprise at his door: a woman (Jessica Lindsey) he had a relationship with 20 months earlier drops off her daughter Maggie (Loreto Peralta) – which is also his daughter – and leaves. Valentin, a perpetual Peter Pan, is forced to grow up and accept the responsibilities of parenthood, a task he embraces for several years until Maggie’s mother resurfaces, wanting the girl back.
ClearPlay In Action!
Several scenes of implied intercourse are trimmed by ClearPlay, as well as some harsh language that could make a non-ClearPlay user question the movie’s PG-13 rating. The ClearPlayed version is fine for most audiences, though there is a plot element involving a serious subject that could upset sensitive viewers. (Hey, I’m trying to be discreet here!)
Will I need Instructions to understand this Spanish movie?...
Instructions Not Included is the all-time box-office champ for a Spanish-language film released in the U.S. Take two parts Kramer vs. Kramer, one part Terms of Endearment, and mix thoroughly with Mexican farce, and you may not get high art, but you’ll get a nicely entertaining movie that could be your gateway to other foreign films. Funny, sweet and touching … what more instructions do you need?
