Gravity
The story in Gravity is deceptively simple: Medical engineer Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) joins astronaut Matt Kowalski and another astronaut on a space walk. It’s routine for the astronauts but nerve-wracking for Stone, who’s overwhelmed by the silence of space. Then disaster strikes and their shuttle is destroyed, leaving them stranded in the unforgiving environment of space, and they must find some way to get back to solid ground. Gravity is a breathtaking look at loneliness, helplessness, and the will to survive.
ClearPlay In Action!
There are some brief, violent images in Gravity that ClearPlay trims. Also cut are about 20 profanities, religious exclamations, and references to bodily functions. Even though the theme is ultimately positive, the ClearPlayed version is still very intense, and could be too disturbing for younger viewers.
Is Gravity out of this world?...
People looking for complex storylines and intricate plots may be disappointed with Gravity; its linear narrative is somewhat one-dimensional. But Director Alfonso Cuaron has taken the harsh elements of space and combined them with fluid camera work to craft an elegiac journey that’s as balletic as 2001: A Space Odyssey. The technically brilliant Gravity is a tour-de-force ride and one of the best films of 2013.
