Walking with Dinosaurs
A young herbivore dinosaur, Patchi (voiced by Justin Long), finds the prehistoric world to be intimidating and dangerous, but his plucky courage and common sense get him through several predicaments. His herd joins other animals in mass migrations that take them through fire, rain, and battles with predators.
ClearPlay In Action!
Sure, it’s back to primitive nature, but do we need the “poop” jokes? ClearPlay thinks not, and trims scenes involving the usual suspects: poop, vomit, and snot. Thank you. Some other mild language is also cut. There are scary scenes that may frighten younger viewers, but the messages of family and living with a purpose are also strong.
Is this a Walk I’ll be glad I took?...
Walking with Dinosaurs treads familiar ground where The Land Before Time, Ice Age and Dinosaurs blazed the trail. The difference here is the attempt at modern scientific accuracy, punctuated with little facts, pronunciations and a mix of live action and animation. The story doesn’t hold much for adults, but may keep younger kids entertained. There is some stellar animation, so if you accompany the little ones as they watch, look up every once in awhile, gasp, and return to what you were doing. You’ll be able to follow the story just fine if you’re engaged in other activities.
