Just Enough Time To Find Love

Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock) is a lawyer with a cause. Working each day to preserve old landmarks, and keep the corporate monopolies from taking over the smaller, enchanting communities. But that all changes the day she meets millionaire tycoon, George Wade (Hugh Grant) of Wade Enterprises. He’s looking for a new “legal eagle” and she’s looking for a well of resources to complete her life’s dream. The two make a perfect team, until they mix business with pleasure and their goals get compromised.

With my husband fresh out of law school I thought it perfectly fitting to review a movie all about a lawyer who falls into a job making $250,000. (If only….) Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock both have countless chic flics that populate my movie shelves, but this one is by far one of my favorites! The two have great on-screen chemistry, their sense of humors play a wonderful melodious duet that I could watch over and over again (and I do). Alicia Witt, who plays June Carver, the lawyer who is to replace Lucy, makes me want to throw my hand in a blender, she’s THAT annoying. At any rate, that is the only negative item that you will hear from me because I adooore this film, music, storyline, acting, the whole kit-n-caboodle!

Motherly Advice: I watched Two Weeks Notice with my filters on medium. This film is pretty clean with your filters on but I have to mention a few parts. First is that there are a couple of scenes that put Lucy into compromising positions, meant to come off as innocent and funny, but are sexually implicit, nonetheless. Also, near the end, George and June are involved in a game of strip poker, and you see her in a strapless bra and slip, and he’s wearing a shirt and boxers. Most of Lucy’s wardrobe is completely modest with the exception of two ball gowns that were strapless and/or off the shoulder. I know this film is a chic-flic but my husband sure enjoyed it, and so I’d say it’s a chic/guy flic for ages 13 and up.

Trisha - another favorite Hugh Grant Chic Flic: Knotting Hill. What about you?

Rated PG-13 for some sex-related humor; 101 mins; Directed by Marc Lawrence
