Chef
Master Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) is a food artist trapped in a world governed by mass consumerism. He desires to return to his cutting--edge culinary choices but his boss (Dustin Hoffman) forbids it because the menu “works.” When a food critic (Oliver Platt) gives a scathing review of the food, Carl fights back and finds himself having to strike out in new and unfamiliar directions, relying on help from the most unlikely places.
ClearPlay In Action!
While there are some implied indiscretions and rude behavior, most of ClearPlay’s work in Chef comes from editing some 140 profanities, including about 45 f--words and the ameliorating properties of corn starch. The film gives a positive statement about family, with the ClearPlayed version being fine for most ages. And the food looks great, too.
Will Chef leave my mouth watering for more?...
The first half of Chef is edgy fun, while the second half follows the standard recipe of rebuilding oneself a little more rigidly. Still, its charming characters and gastronomic pleasures make it an appealing offering for any appetite. Satisfying as a main course, or maybe a light dessert.
