ClearPlay In Action!
ClearPlay’s main work on The Good Lie deals with some disturbing scenes of violence and cruelty, most of which occur in the first half hour, and a scene involving urination. There are also instances of language, though these are brief. The ClearPlayed version is appropriate for teens and above, recognizing that there are still unsettling moments that deal with children. The theme emphasizes the importance of family, and the idea of lying for the greater good is also brought up.
Is The Good Lie a source of cinematic truth?...
The movie is a fictional film based on the true events of 3,600 Sudanese refugees relocated to the United States. It has the feel of being Hollywood-ized, especially in the humorous scenes which are sprinkled throughout the landscape. Didn’t matter. I still cried like a baby.
