The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
In this third installment of the popular Hunger Games series, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is in safe-keeping following her dramatic destruction of the Games in the previous film. Political forces want to use Katniss for her charisma and popularity to lead a people’s uprising against the powers that be. Katniss is mostly concerned with whether or not she is getting the full story and for the fate and well-being of Peta (Josh Hutcherson) who is currently missing.
ClearPlay In Action!
There are some bloodless, violent scenes in Mockingjay, though mostly from a distance. Lots of victims die and ClearPlay cuts some of the more disturbing images, but younger viewers may still get upset. Some startling action is also present, and a few rude comments are trimmed. Despite the body count, the ClearPlayed version is okay for most mature kids and above.
Will Mockingjay – Part 1 leave me hungry for more?...
I would imagine this movie will leave you hungry because it’s pretty much a fast. The“Part 1” is the most telling – and damaging – aspect of the film. Ever since Deathly Hallows was split into two movies and made a lot of money, it’s become the greedy trend to squeeze every cinematic drop out of a tent pole series, even if the material doesn’t merit it. There is fine acting and production values, but nothing much happens. Remember the scene in Return of the Jedi when Ben sits down with Luke to explain the movie. Imagine George Lucas splitting Jedi into two movies and making Part 1 all about the exposition, and that’s pretty much what you have here.
