    American Sniper

Navy Seal Chris Kyle was credited with over 160 kills during the Iraq War. His skill earned him the nickname “Legend” among his allies and angered his enemies enough to put a bounty on his head. But four tours in Iraq and numerous scrapes with death take their toll, and Chris struggles, unable to leave the war behind him. In this adaptation of Chris’s book, American Sniper, we see that the legend is very much a man fighting a war both inside and outside.

    ClearPlay In Action!

There is plenty for ClearPlay to do in American Sniper. There are a handful of sensual scenes and talk that are trimmed, and there are around 200 instances of bad language to mute, including over 100 F words. There are plenty of disturbing images and violence, too, as you would expect. Since this is a war movie, and since it’s one about a sniper, the ClearPlay edits will make the battle scenes jumpy in spots and skip many of the sniper kills, so you may want to play with the filters to find a comfortable spot. This is a movie for adults.

Should I Gear Up for American Sniper?...

American Sniper is a chilling and engrossing look into the horrors of war, both on the field of battle and on the homefront when the soldier returns. The movie does well at showing the moral dilemmas and the awful circumstances and dangers of the Iraq war. While some may disagree, at no point did I feel that American Sniper glorified war or killing. For me, it was quite the opposite, and the film increased my respect for what the men and women of our armed forces go through. Yes, Bradley Cooper deserved his Oscar nomination. If you like movies like Saving Private Ryan or Lone Survivor, then this one will be right up your alley.
