Still Alice
Alice Howland (Julianne Moore) has it all. She’s a university professor with financial stability, a loving husband (Alec Baldwin), and a supportive family. But recent lapses in memorycause Alice to seek professional help from a neurologist, who diagnoses her with Early-onset Alzheimer’s. There is no treatment for her disease, and her once vibrant mind is left to deal with the slow but inevitable degeneration.
ClearPlay In Action!
ClearPlay cuts some brief strong language, including an F-word, and a lewd sexual reference. Also trimmed is a scene involving urination. ClearPlayed, the movie is okay for all ages, but kids may find the film’s lack of action too slow to hold their interest. Though the serious subject matter could be upsetting for younger viewers, it probably has a bigger emotional impact for mature audiences.
Does Moore deliver a memorable performance?...
Oscar-winner Moore is pitch-perfect as a woman watching her life unravel. But Still Alice is also a portrait of strength and humanity. There aren’t a lot of big, emotional moments, but the movie’s quiet dignity powers it through the lean plot. Good performances all around make for compelling viewing.
