When a drug lord decides to testify against the leader of a powerful cartel, by-the-book Officer Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) is ordered to accompany his wife, Daniella (Sofia Vergara), to Dallas. When the bullets fly, Cooper and her charge run from dirty cops and murderous mobsters, hoping to make it to their destination so she can complete her mission before they all get killed.
ClearPlay In Action!
There are around 30 instances of swear words and a whole host of religious exclamations that ClearPlay mutes. There is a little gun violence (bloodless and not played for gore). The biggest cuts are to take out a number of sexual jokes and gags from the film, though they filter well and you won’t miss major plot details as a result. With filters, this film would be appropriate for teens and up.
Will Hot Pursuit Leave Me Cold?
There’s not too much to say other than this movie is silly, disposable, and pointless. The two leads, Witherspoon and Vergara, actually have decent chemistry as a misfit duo, but the plot and the script don’t allow for much excellence to occur in this underdone effort. I think the movie would have been better (and even funnier) if they taken a more serious tone, but as it is, you may laugh a handful of times and not remember the movie existed until you see it imprisoned in the bargain DVD bin at Walmart.
