Cinderella
When you hold the rights to one of the most beloved fairytales in history, you may as well remake it as many times as you like. We all know the story of Cinderella, with a lovely goodhearted girl (Lily James), wicked stepmother (Cate Blanchett), down-to-earth prince (Richard Madden), Fairy Godmother (Helena Bonham Carter), glass slippers, and the stroke of midnight. This is not a reimagining of the classic (think Ever After). This Disney version sticks to the facts, but what it lacks in surprises it makes up for with charm.
ClearPlay In Action!
There is some rude name-calling in the movie, and ClearPlay cuts a burp. Wicked stepsisters shout violent threats to each other, but the ClearPlayed version is fine for all members of the family. No infectious songs, but plenty of infectious characters.
Will I have a ball watching this movie?...
Although you’ll know every beat of the plot, there are some interesting takes on late motivations. Director Kenneth Branagh’s lush envisioning of the riches-to-rags-to-riches story is unusually refreshing. Teenagers may feel too cool for another retelling of the tale, but this story of patience, empowerment and forgiveness still seems ageless.
