Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) goes back in time (in a DeLorean!) and inadvertently interferes with the meeting between his father (Crispin Glover) and mother (Lea Thompson) in 1955, disrupting the space-time continuum and jeopardizing his very existence. Now he must reject his mom’s advances, reunite his parents, and get back to the future, all against impossible odds. What could go wrong?

ClearPlay In Action!

A few years back, I remember sharing this classic time-travel pic with my young and impressionable kids. I was a bit shocked by the rather consistent use of strong profanity, something I hadn’t remembered from my theatrical experience 30 years ago. Have no fear! Now you can watch it swear-free on ClearPlay, with no squirming. Some of the suspense and bullying may be too intense for the small fries, but for the most part, it’s fine for all ages.

An instant classic -- one of Bob Zemeckis’s best -- with a great script and a star-making performance by Fox. I still use it in my classes as an example of how to write conflict into movies. It’s not just good; it’s 88 mph of excitement and 1.21 jigowatts of fun.
