Everest
Based on a true story, the film portrays Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) with his company “Adventure Consultants” leading a group of climbers on Mt. Everest. After months of acclimating and training at progressively higher levels of the mountain, they hope to reach the summit on what Rob considers a lucky day—May 10. On that day in 1996, however, luck was unkind.
ClearPlay In Action!
The film has little need of language filtering, but will skip over one slang term and infrequent religious exclamations. A few disturbing images are eliminated—a man coughing up blood, and random corpses of unfortunate hikers
Will Everest reach great heights?...
I love stories of strength, determination, and striving to reach goals (although why anyone would want to climb to the cruising altitude of a 747—where the human body literally starts dying—is beyond my comprehension!). Fantastic cinematography captures the grandeur of the mountain (as well as its fury), and a great cast portrays real people who encouraged, supported, and risked their lives for each other. I’m glad I climbed onto the couch and watched it.
