Love the Coopers
As Christmas Eve approaches, multiple storylines converge on the Cooper household, as the mom and dad (Diane Keaton, John Goodman) struggle with their crumbling relationship. Meanwhile grandpa (Alan Arkin) deals with losing a young friend (Amanda Seyfried), Hank (Ed Helms) fights unemployment, single sister Emma (Marisa Tomei) has a run-in with the law, and daughter Eleanor (Olivia Wilde) meets a kind enlistee (Jake Lacy) at the airport. Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
ClearPlay In Action!
There’s a lot of awkward kissing that ClearPlay trims, as well as references to infidelity and implications of first intimate encounters. About 40 mild profanities (some spoken by a young girl) and religious exclamations are also cut. There are a lot of family arguments that could be upsetting to younger viewers. Still, the movie has a strong message of family unity and love.
Will I Love the Coopers or just put up with them for the holidays?...
A lot of Love the Coopers is like a big, spongy fruitcake, something I usually find a little tough to choke down. But there are enough solid moments, nice performances, and real warmth that I overlooked the plot contrivances and was won over in the end.
