Big Fish
Edward Bloom is a tall-tale-telling man that everyone loves. However, his now grown up son has never been able to tell the difference between the fantastical tales he tells and the truth. So as his father lies dying he tries to separate fact from myth and we get to hear some wonderful tall-tales.
ClearPlay in Action!
Setting your filters at Medium will filter about 12 profanities, several scenes of non-sexual nudity and a little bit of violence. What remains is still a very little bit of violence (nothing death threatening). You’ll see a brief scene of a woman swimming through water as Edward sits in a car that is under water, although you can’t see that she’s naked you can definitely see a clear silhouette of her body. Also a woman will try to kiss a married Edward but he will stop her before she does and then proclaim his un-dying love for his wife. With your filters set to Medium I think this movie is suitable for kids 12 and up.
Is This Tale a Fish Worth Catching?...
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is on my top-five Favorite Movies of All-time list. Tim Burton is at his story telling best here and all performances are up to match it. I love the magical tales mixed with the truth that this Dad tells to his son and to anyone who will listen. I love all the characters. I love the story itself. Above all….I LOVE that this is one of those movies that totally and completely masters the most important part of a story…the ending. The ending is quite truly perfect and it gets me every time! If you haven’t seen Big Fish, queue it up on Netflix now!!
