    Will He Steal Your Favor?

This is the true story of Irish-Australian Ned Kelly (played by Heath Ledger) and his gang of accidental outlaws. After several wrong accusations from the Victorian Police who have it out for the Kelly family, things heat up for Ned and his ‘gang’. Pretty soon they find themselves declared outlaws and the price on their heads the largest price of any outlaw in the world.

Had this tale not been a true story I would have heavily laid my stamp of “Downer” over this movie. However, it is a true story and therefore gets an extra star from me. Furthermore, all performances from big named Orlando Bloom, Geoffery Rush and the late Heath Ledger were excellent. Naomi Watts graces the screen as well but with her Oscar nomination this year I’d expected a little more from her. I guess she’s grown as an actress a lot over the past few years because I wasn’t super impressed with her in this one. If you’re into the Western genre and true stories then I think you’ll really enjoy this one but don’t expect any feel-good fuzzies from it.

Motherly Advice: With the majority of my filters on Medium and the sex filter on Most (I was nervous so I hiked that one up) you’ll still see lots and lots of shooting. The big finale and kind of the legend of the story has to do with a big shoot out where a lot of innocent civilians were shot by police and many people died. There is one bar scene with plenty of drinking and two mild romantic advances on an unwilling recipient. Two premarital sexual encounters are eluded to with some kissing and bare arms but no nudity. With filters in place I’m still going to say this one is only appropriate for adult audiences just because of the violence and sexual implications.
