Rocky II
Rocky (Sylvester Stallone), a boxer who rose to fame after a solid match against heavyweight champ Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), fails to maintain his popularity. He’s blown all his money and finds himself back at a dead-end job, being pulled in many different directions, including proposals for a rematch by Creed, and the pleadings of his new wife Adrian (Talia Shire) to not go near the ring. As usual, there’s a lot at stake in II, including reputation, a hearty bank roll, and plenty of health issues spread throughout the cast. I wonder if it ends with a big fight…
ClearPlay In Action!
Rocky II is very similar in tone and content to original, but ClearPlay has been training and is up to the task. A couple of uppercuts to the occasional language, and a right cross to the bloody boxing violence, and we have a family-friendly sequel. Well, as family-friendly as a boxing movie can be.
Hey, I thought they said in the first movie that there wasn’t going to be a rematch?...
Rematch? More like “remake.” Rocky II follows many of the same beats as the original (in fact, they all do), but with a slight change to the ending. It’s still a crowd-pleaser, even if it paints by the numbers. When I saw it, I still cheered.
